Promoting Safety Awareness: Carlile’s Support for the AGC Safety Fair

July 14, 2023

At the heart of Carlile’s operations lies a steadfast commitment to safety. This commitment is not just a slogan but the ultimate mission that drives every aspect of our work. Safety is the cornerstone of our success, and every Carlile employee delivers it, no matter their role or location. Our goal is simple yet profound: to ensure that every employee returns home unharmed to their family at the end of each shift.

As part of the Associated General Contractors of Alaska (AGC), we share a common vision of promoting safety in Alaska’s commercial construction industry. AGC has been a voice for Alaska’s commercial construction industry since 1948, providing members with products and services designed to improve and grow their business and enhance the professionalism of Alaska’s construction industry. Together, we strive to create a safer environment for our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

The Importance of Safety in Trucking

Safety is not just a priority in the trucking industry but a necessity. In Alaska’s vast and challenging landscapes, this necessity becomes even more critical. The unique conditions of our state, with its diverse terrains and extreme weather conditions, require an elevated level of vigilance and preparedness.

At Carlile, we understand these challenges and have tailored our safety measures accordingly. Our employees continually train for all kinds of safety scenarios and are empowered with Stop Work Authority. This means that if any member of our team observes what they believe to be unsafe behavior or activities, they have the power to halt all activities so our safety team can assess the situation.

We also invest in technology and safety training practices to ensure our operations do not harm our employees or the people we serve. From mandatory rest breaks and real-time truck and driver monitoring systems to comprehensive drug testing, we do everything possible to deliver safety mile after mile.

Our commitment to safety extends beyond the road. We have robust safety protocols for our terminals, yards, docks, and warehouse facilities. If Carlile operates the space, employees and visitors are required to follow specific safety guidelines.

The AGC Safety Fair

The AGC Safety Fair is a celebration of our shared commitment to safety awareness and injury prevention. Scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, this event is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn about safety in a fun and engaging environment.

The fair will be held at the Davis Constructors & Engineers Parking Lot and will feature a range of activities designed to educate and entertain. Attendees can look forward to water safety VR training, a hand safety dunk tank, construction-related coloring activities, and fall protection and first aid sessions, among others.

In addition to these educational activities, the fair will also offer a free BBQ, courtesy of Alaska Industrial Hardware (AIH) and Swalling General Contractors, family-friendly beverages, and the chance to win some cool prizes.

As a company that places safety at the forefront of our operations, Carlile is proud to support the AGC Safety Fair. We believe that events like these play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety and injury prevention within our industry and communities.

Carlile’s Safety Practices

At Carlile, safety is more than just a priority—it’s a way of life. Our commitment to safety is deeply ingrained in our operations, shaping our practices and guiding our decisions. This commitment is reflected in our safety-driven operations and training, which are designed to protect our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

Our safety practices are comprehensive, covering every aspect of our operations. On the road, we employ real-time truck and driver monitoring systems, enforce mandatory rest breaks, and conduct regular drug testing to ensure the safety of our drivers and the public. We also provide ongoing training for our employees to prepare them for a variety of safety scenarios.

Off the road, our commitment to safety is just as robust. We have strict safety protocols in place for our terminals, yards, docks, and warehouse facilities. These protocols are enforced without exception, ensuring that all employees and visitors adhere to specific safety guidelines when in these spaces.

Our dedication to safety is also reflected in our support for initiatives like the AGC Safety Fair. By promoting safety awareness and injury prevention, we aim to foster a culture of safety that extends beyond our company and into the wider community.

In the end, safety is a collective responsibility. It requires the commitment of every individual, every company, and every community. At Carlile, we’re proud to play our part in this collective effort. We invite you to join us in our commitment to safety, whether that’s by attending the AGC Safety Fair, following safety guidelines, or simply spreading the word about the importance of safety.

Remember, safety isn’t just about protecting ourselves—it’s about protecting each other. Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone.
